Rainwater Catchment Systems

Harvest The Sky advocates harvesting rainwater from rooftops and using the water for irrigation or other uses. This is called rainwater harvesting or rainwater catchment. This is one way to reduce the amount of stormwater generated from buildings and directed to fragile creek or river ecosystems. An added benefit of rainwater harvesting is that it both reduces the stormwater reaching the nearest water body, and it also provides free water for use on site. Rainwater harvesting saves the environment and it saves you money too.

The City of Portland's Clean Rivers Reward Program will give you a reduction in your stormwater fee if you mitigate your stormwater on site.  One way to do this is through rainwater catchment.

Vegetable Oil Conversion

Harvest The Sky also advocates the use of vegetable oil as an alternative fuel source for diesel vehicles.  The company vehicle, a VW Vanagon, runs on such a system. For more information about vegetable oil as a fuel source click on this  link.
